How Can You Use Social Stories to Prepare for Halloween?

Halloween is just a couple weeks away, and that means there are only a couple more weeks to prime your child for the evening’s festivities. Social stories can be effectively used to support your child’s participation by illustrating what is supposed to happen on Halloween. In addition to the use of social stories describing the events, it will be important to practice all the steps involved including:

  • Dressing up
  • Painting face
  • Carrying candy bag
  • Walking with group
  • Knocking on doors
  • Saying “Trick or Treat”
  • Holding out bag
  • Saying “Thank you”

Here are some social stories to get you started:
