Welcome to the Autism Community! On this website you will find extensive information on Autism, Education Issues, Communication, and other Resources for parents, teachers and more. In addition to the informational resources, we are constantly updating the community on autism related news, research, and events. We have a large community of individuals with autism, family members, teachers and other professionals involved in the lives of people with autism who are actively involved in the community. You can be involved too by making comments, posing questions to the community members, posting information you find helpful or interesting, or sharing your personal stories.
This website was created and is moderated by Abby Twyman, M.Ed., BCBA. She has been working with people with autism and their families since 2004. She has a Master of Education degree from the University of Washington where she specialized in teaching individuals with moderate to severe disabilities. Additionally, she has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since August 2009.
As of April 2010, the Autism Community has been collaborating with Dynavox Mayer-Johnson. Together we are working to create a website full of resources and information to help all stakeholders (i.e. individuals with autism, family members, teachers and other professionals) find solutions and answers. This collaborative effort is bringing about lots of positive change for the Autism Community because we’re now able to provide comprehensive resources to help community members find solutions for communication issues.
Our mission here at Autism Community is to provide useful information and resources to individuals, family members and professionals involved with people with autism. Additionally, we are striving to help members of the autism community get connected with the support and services they need. Please take a moment sign up as a member of the Autism Community and fill out a short survey so we can continue to provide the most relevant information and resources to the community.
Please send us your personal stories, comment, questions, event listings or anything else at info@autism-community.com
